The subject of the invention is a synthetic procedure of hybrid acrylic polymers modified by molecules of methacryloxypropyl-triethoxysilane/trimethoxysilane, which are appropriate modifiers for mortars and concrete. The synthesis of hybrid polymers was accomplished by two step emulsion polymerization of acrylate precursors in water. Hybrid organic-inorganic polymers were prepared as water borne dispersions. Results of the study have shown that hybrid organic-inorganic polymer water dispersions and powders improve mechanical properties, adhesion and durability of polymer modified mortars.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1232487The special structure of the sensor minimizes the influence of temperature, and allows high resolution in measuring the thickness change. Contrary to existing solutions it allows incorporation into the hardened concrete, and corrosion monitoring under the cathodic protection. The accompanying measuring system facilitates the measuring of all the necessary parameters and the evaluation of general corrosion rate. In the case that the basic data are available, the results of the measurements by a network of sensors can be used also to predict the remaining service life of a structure.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1465191The monastery at Žiče is the oldest monastery of the Carthusian order outside the Romanic territory. The research work was carried out in co-operation with the ZVKDS and an international team of experts (from BAM, University of Pavia), helped to clarify several problems related to the chronological development of the monastery. The results of the study will contribute to a more appropriate approach towards rehabilitation works of the building. The results of the research are part of a permanent exhibition inside the premises of the monastery at Žiče.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1292391A new procedure for making lightweight aggregate from waste materials was developed in co-operation with the Termit enterprise, which consists of the compaction of silica sludge, the addition of other waste, granulation, drying and firing. The other waste can be used such as: paper sludge, waste glass, waste resulting from rock polishing. The production of the aggregate will contribute towards conservation of natural resources and to efficient use of waste materials, which will release landfils. The final product has excelent insulating properties so the energy for heating can be decreased.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1232743The possibilities of re-using toxical ind. waste in civil eng. were studied. A permission for the use in concrete and asphalt has been issued for filter dust, steel slag, and sewage sludge. In co-operation with the IMT the long-term stability of metal canisters for the storage of low- and medium- radioactive nuclear waste was assessed. In co-operation with KTH and SKB, Sweden, the corrosion processes which could act on the copper cases used for the storage of highly rad. nuclear waste and spent nuclear fuel were studied. Experimental work was performed in the underground laboratory at Äspö.
