Predictive control algorithm for temperature process in semi-batch reactor and process simulator for testing the whole system were developed. The algorithm was successfully implemented on several different semi-batch reactors in Lek pharmaceutic factory. A basic predictive controller for processes of first and second order with transport delay was also developed and Mitsubishi Electric–Japan has included it among their products. The tuning of press for tablet production in Krka factory was improved by the use of fuzzy and neuro models enabling fast and efficient setting of optimal parameters.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4117332The highest prizes to the members of the group are Zois award for research work, Vidmar prize, Vodovnik prize, Golden symbol of the University of Ljubljana and special prize of the engineering enterprise INEA for long-term cooperation. The members were mentors in university and 2 faculty Prešeren awards as well as in Bedjanič awards for 2 Ph. D., M. Sc. and 3 diploma theses. Important are also the win at the Olympiad for the automatic control, awards for the best student papers and the highest rankings in robot soccer international championships and engineering students meeting ICAMES.

COBISS.SI-ID: 15344786Our group organised the most important European event in the field of modelling and simulation in the year 2007 – 6th EUROSIM Congress. This is a triennial event. The Book of Abstracts and the CD Proceedings with full papers were published. The SCI journal Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory published a special issue with the best papers. The guest editors were prof. Karba and prof. Zupančič. The members of the group had 3 plenary lectures on international conferences abroad, they were 35 times hosted by foreign universities and are in the editorial boards of 7 journals.

COBISS.SI-ID: 6063188Prof.Zupančič was the president of EUROSIM–Federation of European Simulation Societies in the period 2004-07. Prof. Karba is the president of Slovenian Society for Modelling and Simulation SLOSIM. The group members are responsible for 14 subjects at the university, 7 at higher education and 4 at doctoral degree as well as for 4 subjects at the specialistic study Automatic Control of Industrial Processes. They published 4 chapters in monographic publications, 11 textbooks and 13 working materials for students. They were supervisors to 8 Ph.D., 8 M. Sc. and 15 specialistic theses.

COBISS.SI-ID: 6931540In cooperation with enterprise IDS microelectronic system was developed for which the patent was granted ( international and slovenian patent ). It solves the problem of sampling noise by suppressing it using a control subsystem. Next achievement represents the automatically controlled voltage supply, which is realised as a subsystem of microelectronic circuit. The patent was granted in Slovenia and international applications are pending. The system is especially suitable for the supply systems for contactless readers in RFID systems.
