In the research functional water- and oilrepellent as well as antimicrobial coating of cellulose fibres by the use of sol-gel technology, which enables the formation of wash resistant nanocomposite polymer film, was presented. We were one of the first who managed to proven the synergistic effect of antimicrobial and oilrepellent coating. Along with the active bactericidal effect of the silver, the importance of the passive antibacterial effect of perfluorinated polysiloxane was shown. The latter strongly decreases bacterial adhesion, due to its extremely low surface free energy.

The goal of the research is an estimation of the influence of reactive dyes with massive chromogene and nanosilver on UPF of lightweight cotton fabrics. The effect of nanosilver on the colour of fabrics and on antibacterial effectiveness is determined as well. The research shows an increase in UPF of fabrics when they are pale red or pale navy dyed together with nanosilver. Cotton fabrics treated with 80 nm nanosilver show the inhibition of the growth of Streptococcus Faecalis and Staphylococcus Aureus. Changes of colour are observed on dyed cotton fabrics treated with nanosilver.

The strength of interactions between anionic dye and cationic surfactant in aqueous solutions of nonionic surfactant (N) at concentrations above c.m.c. was studied. The constant of dye-surfactant (DS) complex formation was calculated by the introduction of an appropriate theoretical model. The thermodynamic functions were also calculated. In the literature the strength of DS interactions in ternary mixture was not quantitatively investigated so far. Results of the study showed that the strength and the stability of the complex are strongly dependent on the structure and the HLB value of N.

The purpose was to determine the influence of temperature, pH, and the addition of soso on the dyeability of cotton warp at dip-dyeing. The results show a negligible influence of temperature but lower pH values of baths show better dyeability. Addition of soso shorten dyeing procedure. The change of colour of dip-dyed cotton warp was studied using XRD and SEM. XRD showed that the dyeing conditions do not affect the crystallographic form of indigo, which is form B in all cases. SEM revealed the reasons for the observed effects in the differences in morphology of indigo crystallites.

In binary mixture the influence of chemical structure and concentration of both dye and surfactant on the strength of interactions between anionic dye and cationic surfactant (DS) as well as interactions between cationic surfactant and micelle of nonionic surfactant (MS+) were studied at 25 °C. Interactions DS were also investigated in ternary mixture. Potentiometry was used as an experimental method. The results showed that both strength and stability of DS and MS+ complexes are influenced by the concentration and the structure of dye and surfactant.
