PCFLOW3D model was upgraded with circulation of Hg and with other modules. So, the possibility for simulating hydrodynamic, atmospheric and bio-geo-chemical modeling of Hg in the natural environment was achieved. This tool was used for Hg analysis in Mediterranean Sea, Gulf of Trieste and Gulf of Minamata, and for transport and fate of radio nuclides, in case of a work accident scenario in the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, as well. Especially important expertise was done for cross border environment impact assessment of the gas pipeline projects in the gulf of Trieste and in Žavlje.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3843169Retention basin filled up with sediments demands the construction of a substitute accumulation - demand for water, will not decrease. The original contribution is data base of Alpine reservoirs, which enables the research of approaches, the synthesis of common knowledge of managing the sediments, in a way of sustainable reservoir management. Overview of practices and field work, with monitoring the aquatic environment during the removal of sediments from accumulations, economic analysis and comparison of administrative procedures present the important new knowledge.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2850657Slovenian regions are exposed to landslides or conditionally stable slope dynamics. With subsequent development i.e. human activities affecting the environment, the landslides became triggered by human activities. To adapt the anthropogenic use to the natural conditions, the research results and experiences acquired in mitigation of consequences of large landslides in Slovenia are most valuable. The studies performed are important for spatial planning, intervention and mitigation of landslide consequences, supporting risk assessment for structures, persons and activities in endangered areas.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3775329Rather unique and heterogeneous natural and anthropogenic characteristics in Slovenia affect also hydrological conditions. Integrated water management needs that existing monitoring of the specific hydrological (extreme events) and geomorphologic characteristics should be improved. Also characteristic effects of urban environment on eco-hydrological conditions of water courses in urban environments should be addressed. Scientific knowledge (general or specific for Slovenia) support decision-making process on sustainable use and residual developing potential of aquatic environment in Slovenia.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3586913Hydraulic hybrid models was developed to support further development on Slovenian rivers, where exact simulation of a large number of different hydrological, design and operating scenarios is needed, leading also to cost optimization. Results were used for preparation of broader applicative research tasks, supporting the hydro energy use of the Lower Sava, Drava and Soča. The results are important for HPPs, for national spatial planning, water infrastructure management and for regulating the cross border affairs of Slovenia and Croatia in the hydro energy field and in water management.
