Paper evaluates different greenhouse gas emissions mitigation policy instruments implemented in Slovenia. The introduction of emission allowances will alter operating costs in the power generation sector. Industrial operators will have to incur cost to control their emissions or to acquire emission allowances to cover emissions above their initial quotas. Allocation process is of importance for industries, since it determines their starting position for the trading scheme and in this way it makes a balance between national environmental targets and economic competitiveness on the market.

Projects and research results supported by the IAEA are presented, carried out by numerous scientists. In the investigations, radioactive and enriched stable isotopes were amply applied thus allowing for easier studies of the biogeochemical cycling of mercury in the environment. Appropriate methodologies for the measurement of Hg transformation in various chemical forms and compounds as well as for the measurement of Hg fluxes at natural interfaces were developed and validated. For this purpose appropriate methodology for identifying risk populations to MeHg was developed.

Computer model entitled for analysis and economic evaluation of small CHP systems was developed with the aim of helping the decision maker. The paper describes two methods for calculation of the sensitivity of the economic results to changes of input parameters and the uncertainty of the results: the classic/static method and the risk method. The computer program uses risk methodology on an existing conventional economic model that can improve decisions by incorporating all possible information. The methodology was tested on a case study.

The relevant features of an outdoor ?re event and its in?uence on the surrounding area was examined. Computational ?uid dynamics (CFD) to model these phenomena was explored. The computer program ?re dynamic simulator (FDS) and ALOFT were used to simulate ?re behaviour. This program uses large Eddie simulation (LES) to calculate ?re development and the spread of combustion products in the environment. Due to the large computational domain and large grid cells used in the FDS calculations, the turbulence model was validated and eventually adjusted for a speci?c scenario.

Computer program ERON was developed, which computes uncertainty propagation factors from the relevant formulae and calculates the combined uncertainty. The program calculates uncertainty of the final result taking into account the relevant neutron flux parameters. Nuclear parameters and their uncertainties are taken from the IUPAC database. Furthermore, the program allows for uncertainty calculations of the measured parameters needed in k0-NAA. Theoretical basis and the program are described in detail, and typical results obtained under real measurement conditions are presented.
