Within the FP6 project SatNEx we participated in the investigation of a hybrid stratospheric satellite communication system. We studied adaptive modulation procedures. In particular, we analysed standard block and advanced iterative decoding algorithms. We also contributed to the development of communication system for public protection and disaster relief, integrating various local area communication technologies such as ad hoc networks and professional digital trunked radio, potentially deployed in remote and damaged areas in the case of emergency situations.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 19696679Within the FP6 STREP project CAPANINA we participated in the development of advanced techniques for radio resource management and in the investigation of most suitable network architectures and protocols for the network of HAPs. We also developed a tool for dimensioning and performance evaluation of stratospheric networks.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 19696423In the project »Professional mobile communication system for Ministry of Defence« we implemented pilot network TETRA and tested basic voice and data services. In the second phase, we developed new applications for MoD TETRA network including GIS, WAP, AVL, paging and telemetry. We connected also TETRA network with PSTN network and with internet.
D.01 Chairing over/coordinating (international and national) projects
COBISS.SI-ID: 2812110For the company Telsima, which is developing base stations WiMAX, we developed “Tool for calculation of WiMAX signal coverage”. The tool enables the setting of all major base station parameters, such as the height of antenna, transmitted power, antenna gain, transmission rate and the type of terrain. The interface give also the possibility to switch on of off additional WiMAX options, such as multiple-antenna transmit (STC) and multiple antenna receive (MRC).
F.06 Development of a new product
COBISS.SI-ID: 20704551We cooperated with Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia in the field of security policy on the project »Health Insurance Card System of Slovenia«. The Health Card System consists of smart cards, which are updated regularly through a network of self-service terminals. In addition, security issues of smart card access over the Internet have been studied.
