In the process engineering for environmental protection we cooperated with industrial partner ESOTECH at the phases of the conceptual and detailed engineering, construction, start up and the operation. Achievements are in waste gas purification and high-temperature processes for solid waste use. The examples are optimisation of the FGD technology (chemistry, equipment integration), development of thermal use of one solid waste material for the transformation of two others (paper mill) into commercial secondary raw material and the construction of FGD plant for secondary lead smelter.

COBISS.SI-ID: 20613415In 2006 B. Žemva was conferred the Award of American Chemical Society for creative work in fluorine chemistry. In the explanation of the award the creative syntheses of new coordination compounds and the results of the research in the field of high energy oxidizers were especially emphasized. On this occasion a special one-day symposium was organized in honour of the awardee. Majority of the world experts in the field of fluorine chemistry was actively participating. The contributions were published in a special issue of Journal of Fluorine Chemistry, 127 (2006) 1267-1453, devoted to awardee.

COBISS.SI-ID: 21964327The hybrid materials (nanobuds and "mama"-tubes) are the first complex structures based on inorganic nanotubes in general. Synthesis of W5O15 nanowires, which represent precursor crystals for the WS2 nanobuds and morfology of MoS2 mama-tubes with MoS2 fullerene-like particles embeded inside nanotubes are protected with three national patent applications and by two independent international PCT patent applications. Intelectual property rights were conditionally transferred to Spin-off company of JSI, called "Nanotul d.o.o", established in Nov. 2007 by inventors of the patent.
