The collaborators of the Programme were initiators for the establishment of the Slovenian Solar Thermal Technology Platform (SSTTP), the aim of which is the development of solar building on the basis of active solar systems. The establishment of the European Solar Thermal Technology Platform (ESTTP) supports the aims of the European Union in the field of lowering of CO2 emission and is of crucial importance for acceleration of usage of alternative energy sources.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3586330We advised Color Factory to start the development of coloured spectrally selective coatings for solar absorbers appropriate for solar facade collector systems. Development of coloured paint coatings led to our collaboration in three EU projects (SUNFACE, Contract No. IC20-CT98-0402N (JOR3-CT98-0240); Colourface, Contract No. ENK6-CT-2001-30009 (Craft); SOLABS, Contract No. ENK6-CT-2002-0679). The preparation procedure was patented (P-200300149, Cobiss SI-ID 2892314) and production has been established in COLORJU. We would like to stress that such paint coatings are not yet at disposal.

COBISS.SI-ID: 381691The patent describes the application of organic-inorganic hybrids in Graetzel cells. Nanocrystalline TiO2, redox electrolyte and deposition of the appropriate dye on TiO2 are problems that had to be solved in order to obtain cell with efficiency of 4-5.5 %, i.e. among the highest efficiences achieved up to date. NIC worked on the preparation of redox electrolytes on the basis of di-ureasil precursor with polypropylen chain, functionalised with triethxysilyl groups at both ends. Their condensation was carried out using solvolysis with acetic acid and low volatile sulpholane was used as solvent.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3072282Together with Aljaž Vilčnik who does his Ph.D. study at our Laboratory and is employed in a family enterprise Chemcolor Sevnica, d.o.o. we tested organic-inorganic hybrid PDMSU with hydrophobic properties for the protection of various surfaces. We wanted to compare the effectivenes of PDMSU with the best known commercial compounds, therefore we contacted Evnik-Degussa and Wacker. The best results on all substrates were achieved with Protectosils (Evonik), therefore Aljaž Vilčnik directly contacted their laboratory and due to his knowledge became representative for the Protectosil products.
