In this patent substances from a sereis of thrombin inhibitors with azaphenyalanine scaffold and prodrug principle of actionare protected. Systematic variation of substituents on the azaphenylalanine scaffold has led us to efficient compouds with benzamidine in postion P1 and potential oral biological activity towards thrombin.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1919345In his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Dynamics and structure of systems with short hydrogen bonds”, the author studied characteristics of hydrogen bonds and relations between them by means of a variety of theoretical approaches and simulations. A novel methodology for computational treatment of molecular vibrations in hydrogen bonds was proposed in his work.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3469338In this patent the synthesis and biological activity of analogues from the series of tricyclic carbapenems are protected. These compounds were extremely effective towards beta lactamases from Classes A,C and D, what renders them potentially interesting for further development in combination with a beta lactam antibiotic.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2931482Janez Mavri gave an invited plenary lecture at Gordon Conference. Focus of the lecture was on the dynamics of protons in hydrogen bonded systems and in enzymes. A novel technique for computational support of isotope effects in NMR spectroscopy and in vibrational spectroscopy was presented. Tunneling in enzyme centers was discussed, in particular factors leading to large kinetic isotope effects.
