A groundbreaking study of delimitation and struggles for borders between Austria and the new South Slav state. Besides new views on well-known events and processes, the monograph is particularly noted for its new perspective, which is based upon the assumption that post-war contrahents lived in the same state and served in the same army until recently. This view is almost entirely fresh in Slovene historiography.

The countries of the Western Balkans have experienced more than a decade of democratic backsliding. Analysis of survey results revealed that these trends were accompanied also by substantial changes in citizens' political attitudes. The support for a strong political leader has noticeably increased, while support for democracy has suffered a substantial decline. The results suggest that these tendencies can better be explained by the economic insecurity thesis than by the cultural backlash thesis. The analysis also revealed that the support for a strong leader has become increasingly compatible with the general support for democracy.

The author re-analysed the documentary material and compared the possessive structures to a certain extent with the newly arranged relations between the noble families in and around Maribor. The comparison showed that the nobles of Maribor, Viltuš and Limbuš were undoubtedly related to each other. The same is true for the nobles of Melje and Hompoš, but it is very likely that the Maribor-Viltuška and Hompoško-Meljska branches were much more closely connected at the beginning of the 13th century than was assumed.

The paper re-evaluates the figure of Frederick V of Ptuj, who has been famous as "kingmaker" and a principal turncloak among the Styrian nobility of the 13th century. Author analyzes sources for his career and particilarly circumstances of their origins, to be able to separate historical facts from propaganda purposes of their authors. Particulartly his evaluation of Frederick's portrayal by Ottokar of Gaal ican be of great use.

Based on a combination of national representative surveys and semi-structured interviews conducted in six Western Balkan countries, the study represents a pioneering attempt at a systematic, comparative analysis of Euroscepticism in the Western Balkans. By employing a theoretical framework that tests the effects of utilitarian, political and cultural factors, the study identifies and interprets the strongest socio-demographical and attitudinal predictors of Euroscepticism. The study demonstrates that all three theoretical models have some explanatory power regarding Eurosceptical attitudes in the Western Balkans, albeit to different degrees. While utilitarian predictors have limited effects, domestic proxies and especially cultural factors such as traditional values, authoritarian orientations and particularly religious affiliation appear as the strongest predictors of Euroscepticism.
