COBISS.SI-ID: 96047361This paper presents the basic historical outline of the almost three hundred years of development of the area between the Raba and Mura rivers in the territory of the Republic of Slovenia known today as Prekmurje. The covered period begins with the reign of King Matthias Corvinus (from 1458, but crowned with the Crown of Saint Stephen in 1464) and ends with the coronation of Queen A. Hozjan: Zgodnjenovoveško Prekmurje 60 Maria Theresa in 1741. To write about this area from the year 1000 until the first half of the twentieth century is to write about the history of the Hungarian kingdom or the Kingdom of Hungary, regardless of the historic period. The author argues that the early modern era was also in Prekmurje a time of fateful turning points. While the history of this region has been oft-discussed, there are only a few reviewed articles on individual social processes, but practically no comprehensive overviews of specific historic periods.

COBISS.SI-ID: 25035272The impact of authoritative, permissive, and authoritarian parenting styles on life satisfaction was analysed on the basis of survey data from national representative samples of young people between the ages of 14 and 29 in ten countries of Southeast Europe. The results, based on multiple linear regression analysis and two-step cluster analysis, showed that in each of the ten countries observed, being exposed to more authoritative parenting during elementary school was strongly correlated with higher levels of life satisfaction during the period of youth. While the other two types of parenting were weakly and inconsistently correlated to life satisfaction across the ten countries, analysis of the effects of specific combinations of parenting styles showed that the pure authoritarian parenting style had a substantial negative impact on life satisfaction in each of the ten countries observed. Overall, the results of our study offer very strong support for the notion that, even from a wider cross-national perspective, exposure to an authoritative parenting style during childhood is conducive to higher levels of life satisfaction in later years. Our results also suggest that even the effects of both permissive and authoritarian styles tend to be positive, as long as these styles are combined with the authoritative one. Thus, when it comes to exposure to different parenting styles during childhood, lack of authoritative parenting was identified as the most important factor in...

COBISS.SI-ID: 23865347The paper examines the presentations of Islamic civilization with regard to Slovene and American textbooks. In the Slovenian history curriculum for 7th grade students, Islamic civiliza-tion is only an elective topic. Moreover, faced with a wide choice of interesting elective topics, AH_2020_1_FINAL.indd 212AH_2020_1_FINAL.indd 21218. 06. 2020 13:44:5118. 06. 2020 13:44:51 Dragan Potočnik / islamvimaginaciji ZahoDainPoukZgoDovine213few students choose themes related to Islamic civilization. In the American context, certain history textbooks have been criticized by the American Textbook Council for their favourable presentation of Islamic civilization. The paper argues that such positions do not contribute to the understanding of and respect for Islamic civilization, because they equate Islam with funda-mentalism and make accusations based on stereotypes. It is concluded that such an approach is destructive, as Islam is increasingly identified with extremist fundamentalism by the public, on the basis of stereotypes and a lack of knowledge. Such a presentation of Islam in textbooks could only make the situation between Islam and the West worse in the future.

COBISS.SI-ID: 31359747The attitudes of parents involved in the process of inclusion are of paramount importance. The aim of this study was to examine parents’ attitudes towards the constructs associated with pre-school inclusion with two goals, which were related to construct dimensions and differences in parents’ attitudes regarding whether or not they have a child with SEN. Among 296 parents, selected by the cluster sampling technique, 202 parents with children in classrooms in Slovenian Carinthia (85 had a child with SEN) participated in this study. Fifty items were used to measure parents’ attitudes and their openness to the inclusion of children. The results showed that parents of children with SEN are more open to inclusion, perceived positive social effects and benefits for children with and without SEN and had fewer negative feelings about the inclusion effects on children without SEN, than parents of children without SEN. Research results suggest the importance of contributing to parents of children without SEN in achieving successful inclusion.
