The author discusses whether an ontological/animal turn is also possible in folkloristics, in different research on animals and nature within the folklore that would, in the society, contribute to a change in people's attitude to non-human subjectivities and their position in a multi-species community. Recognizing that in the 20th century a paradigm’s shift in the perception of animals and nature occurred in science as well, with the relationship between humans and animals. Based on the turn from anthropocentrism to ecocentrism and discussion builds upon various theoretical discourses, new concepts and multidisciplinary knowledge, she proposes new complex research in the fields of folkloristics, ethnology and anthropology, as well as in literature, for instance new academic discipline of zoo/ecofolkloristics with help of critical animal studies. COBISS.SI-ID: 45488685The paper focuses on the symbolic role of language, relations between the Slovenian and German ethnic groups, and the role of bilingual songs in Austrian Carinthia. Observations are made in the framework of three milestones between the beginning of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twenty-first century, detecting clues in the bilingual songs, including singing practices connected to the annual Gail Parish Church Festival. The entry of this festival the into the Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage creates a link between members of the two language communities, the ritual and song practices reflecting the wider social processes.

COBISS.SI-ID: 34021379The paper presents a pilot study investigating usefulness of facial expression analysis technology for measuring emotion induction. The study involved six male participants and a subset of 85 images from the International Affective Picture System dataset (IAPS), rated on the valence and arousal dimensions of affect. The results show low reliability and agreement, both when comparing the mean induction ratings gathered from the face reader to the ground truth (the IAPS ratings), as well as when comparing the induction ratings between the six participants. We conclude that the presented setup does not adequately measure the induction of affect and that the time interval for measuring participant responses from the stimulus onset should be carefully selected.
