COBISS.SI-ID: 2938467Mud Disposal Process. The project has developed an alternative idea for the disposal of excavated sludge, for which the project manager has filed a patent application. The present invention relates to the technology of depositing excavated sludge under the seabed, which provides that the excavated mixture of water and mud is injected under pressure and through a pipe under the seabed at a certain depth, without escaping into the water itself above the seabed. The technology of sludge deposition under the seabed consists of a vessel designed to excavate the sludge and temporarily store the mixture of sludge and water in a tank or directly transport it through a pipe to a system for injecting the sludge into the seabed. When the vessel temporarily stores the mud to transport it to another location for disposal, the mud or mixture of mud and water is pumped through the suction pipe and then through the pump and injection pipe below the seabed to the appropriate depth. In order to reduce the amount of water in the water-mud mixture, a water separator can be incorporated into the pumping system, and the reduction in the amount of water is limited by the fact that the mud-water mixture is still sufficiently flowable during pumping and further injection. As this is a new technological solution, a patent application was filed with the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office and the patent was granted in 2021.

COBISS.SI-ID: 55913475Accidents in port areas are generally relatively minor given the lower prevailing speeds, but dangerous cargo terminals located in the vicinity of populated areas present some risk of accidents with catastrophic consequences. The maritime risk assessment frameworks have been developed in many ports, but few include studies incorporating collisions between sailing and moored ships. This paper presents the risk assessment framework for such accidents. Moreover, it presents the important role of harbour regulations in the navigation risk management process within the port area.

COBISS.SI-ID: 15025923Seaports face the challenge of mooring and handling larger vessels safely and efficiently. For the Port of Koper, we regularly conduct studies that provide answers to the constant changes and development of maritime traffic. In this study, we analyzed the possibility of accommodating large vessels (nuts) by digging a part of the first basin into the land part of the terminal. At the same time, we analyzed the possibility of safe landing of Ro-Ro vessels on the modified berth no. 3 to 5.
