Forests are most important source of forage for honey bees in many European contries. Single source honeys usually reach higher prices at the market in comparison with blended honeys. In Slovenia, five of six officially recognized single-source honeys have their source in tree species like black locust, linden, chestnut, spruce and fir. Beside abundane of forests, Slovenia is burdened also with high count of honey bee colonies and apiaries. Our work demonstrate importance of wood stock of selected tree species for honey yield, which is limited by the colony density.

Yet in both countries are forests most important source of forage for honey bees in many European contries.
