The conference addressed in depth the key solutions to the draft new regulation of the insurance contract, prepared by an expert group at the Institute of Comparative Law within the research project L5-9341 "Modernization of the regulation of the insurance contract".

During the conference, the interim results of the research project Modernization of the legal regulation of the insurance contract were presented. At the same time, it was an opportunity to discuss how the prepared starting points of the revised legislation solve the problems perceived in practice. COBISS.SI-ID: 17170769The research group, in cooperation with experts from insurance companies and the consumer association, systematically analyzed the entire current regulation of the insurance contract in the Code of Obligations, the origin of individual solutions from older regulations and evaluated the adequacy of each solution according to the needs of harmonization with European Union legislation and, in particular, the need to adapt the legislation to the requirements of modern insurance business and modern insurance services.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
Based on a preliminary expert assessment of the existing legislative situation in Slovenian law and the relevant legal framework of the European Union, the project developed a draft of a comprehensive new legal regulation of insurance contracts, based on the Principles of European Insurance Contract Law, but with appropriate modifications required due to the Slovenian legal tradition and practice, and for harmonization with other legislation in the field of obligation and insurance law.
