Oral cancer is one of the important public health problems worldwide. The incidence of oral cavity cancer and the incidence of oropharyngeal cancer in Slovenia in 1985–2014 were increasing. The results of our study enable us to calculate an estimated number of new cases of oral cancer in years to come. Given the importance of oral cancer incidence in Slovenia, it would be fundamental to establish effective preventive action in the field of public health to alter the trend of oral cavity and oropharyngeal cancer in the future. The burden of oral cancer should be introduced to medical and public health experts for further measures.

Oral diseases are very prevalent chronic diseases worldwide and a great challenge to the public health professionals as is Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Both conditions are associated. Regular tooth brushing is important factor in maintaining oral health. We wanted to analyse prevalence of inadequate oral hygiene habits (IOHH) in general and diabetic population and find out its risk factors. Prevalence of IOHH was 34,7% in general, while it was 33,7% in non-diabetic and 50,9% in diabetic population respectively. Prevalence of IOHH is relatively high in general and even higher in diabetic population. Gender is most important risk factor for IOHH in diabetic and non-diabetic population while some socio-economic factors differ. Our research is basis for development of targeted interventions.

This study aimed to explore to what extent adults perceive deviations from the norm of a balanced profile with normal occlusion as reducing satisfaction with facial appearance and having a psychosocial impact. Deviations from a well-balanced facial profile, as well as the morphology of the nose and lip, do not increase psychosocial issues to a great extent. The range of acceptable facial characteristics is evidently much broader than the norms.
