The workshop that took place from September 24.-25, 2014,. in Portorož has been organized for graduate ad postgraduate students that are working in the field of photocatalytic materials. The lecturers on the workshop were prominent European researchers from that field. The event was financed and organized within 7FP RegPot project SUNGREEN that is coordinated by the PI of this research program, prof. Valant.

Developed procedure by authors L. Čuček and Z. Kravanja for the retrofitting of existing large-scale Total Sites (TS) for the purpose of energy consumption reduction and increasing energy efficiency was successfully applied on an existing refinery complex. Obtained results in analysed units showed significant savings: - maximum potential for energy savings was 48.7 % in average, - all profitable modifications showed 37.3 % energy savings in average, and – 15 modifications which are both feasible and profitable enabled 14 % of energy savings in average.

COBISS.SI-ID: 19102486In the beginning of 2014 the center for electron microscopy has been established within the Materials Research Laboratory of University of Nova Gorica. The center was established by prof. Valant with a dedicated project grant within FP7 programs. The center is equipped with field-emission transmission and scanning electron microscopes with EDS and cathodoluminiscence detectors. In addition, the center has got available the full kit of sample preparation instruments for electron microscopy. The entire investment was of about 2 MEUR.
