Time-Scale Analysis and Characteristics Times are suggested as the novel and useful tool in the analysis of the performance of microscale-based bioreactors, unit operations, and plant flow sheet diagrams. Transport phenomena, reaction kinetics, and phase contacting in a microstructured architecture can be easily represented by unique time constants, which enable observing and a better understanding of these processes.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1538095811In this work, the microscale process development is presented in combination with modeling-based optimization. Theoretical description of transport phenomena and the kinetics at the micro scale is discussed and illustrated on the cases of a lattice Boltzmann simulations for flow distribution in the packed bed microreactor and the biocatalytic enzyme surface reaction. The model verification and on-line validation is presented in few cases followed by the multiscale modeling concept.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1538096067In this work, we touched upon the work of our research team in the past, emphasising the validation of complex models, and presenting some results and the concept of a non-membrane phase separator modelled by the Boltzmann multiphase method flows.
