COBISS.SI-ID: 4404652The study examined the vaccination coverage of children with rheumatic diseases and found that the vaccination coverage of children with rheumatic diseases was significantly lower compared to the healthy population. Of particular concern was poor vaccination coverage for pneumococcal infections (4%) and influenza (10%). We also found that the worst vaccinated children were those receiving biologics ((50%); at the same time, according to data from the literature, these children are particularly at risk for infections. In clinical practice, we have introduced a protocol to improve the vaccination coverage of these children during outpatient examinations, by discussing the importance of vaccination, on the safety and effectiveness of vaccination, and by advising parents. In the winter season, we recommend vaccination against influenza in children on immunosuppressive therapy and also vaccination against influenza for family members.
