Publication in its third edition – given the continuous updates – is important for all relevant decision-makers, who have power to decide about and shape alcohol-related policies, with the aim of grounding those processes on credible data and information on the extent of alcohol consumption, and effective, evidence-based alcohol-related measures for reduction of alcohol-related harm. It addresses national actors (various departments) and local-level based actors and local communities. This publication was developed within the framework of Biennial Collaborative Agreement for 2018-2019 between the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia. In the making of publication, various experts from different fields cooperated, including our member (Dr Kamin) who also participated in 4th National Conference on Alcohol-Related Policies: Alcohol and violence, with a presentation of projects in the field of alcohol-consumption, co-financed by Ministry of Health.

COBISS.SI-ID: 296453120The chapter in scientific monograph deals with the question of how political changes have affected the differences in young people’s transitions from school to the labor market. In the analysis, authors focus on three Eastern European countries (Slovenia, Czech Republic and Latvia), more precisely, on the analysis of their Youth Guarantee policies. The analysis is supplemented by comparing various statistical indicators of youth’s social position (unemployment rate, education, gender differences and others). In the chapter, the authors address the role and importance of youth policies, related to youth’s transition from one (educational system) to the other sphere of social life (labor market), and assess the role of state interventions and measures in relation to the growing inequality and post-socialist open-market policies. The chapter is published in international scientific monograph that consists of 15 chapters, which include studies of various European countries. As such, the work is important for international scientific community (knowledge transfer) as well as for (national and supranational) decision-makers in the youth-relevant fields. The chapter strengthens the place of inequality issues in the context of youth transition to labor market on the national and supranational scientific and socio-political agenda.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4944229The article addresses willingness for post-mortem organ donation on the background of selected socio-demographic characteristics and factors, related to organ donation. It is based on the analysis of quantitative data (Eurobarometer 2009). One of the article’s conclusion is that willingness for post-mortem organ donation is influenced by socio-demographic characteristics, and it emphasises that one of the most important factors, contributing to willingness, is family discussion about it. While similar research work is severely lacking in Slovenia, the study represents one of first, thus one of the most important, steps in the research process towards the understanding of the discrepancy between higher reported willingness and lower degree of official registration of oneself as a donor. As such, the study effectively identifies existing gaps of relevant knowledge (in relation to scientific community) that still needs to be filled in, and social factors that shape one’s behaviour (in relation and in support towards future social-marketing interventions, health communities etc.). Dr Kamin, co-author of the article, has presented similar topics and results in international scientific community (35782237), in the form of reports and studies (36044381; 36044893), as well as in the form of literature review and state-of-the art work (36044637).
F.23 Development of new system-wide, normative and programme solutions, and methods
COBISS.SI-ID: 35259485Symposium was organized by Faculty of Social Work, University of Ljubljana, in cooperation with association of German law lecturers and it is a result of long-lasting cooperation between those two institutions. Law has an important role within social work as it represents normative framework of implementing services and programs for people in need. Due to social work’s powers, authorized by legislation, to intervene in private lives (when safety and integrity of children are threatened or in cases of power abuse in intimate partnerships), interrelatedness of law, social work and human rights is of high significance. Thus, it was established as one of the primary areas of the symposium, alongside social rights and labour law that are both – in Germany and Slovenia - being transformed in direction of reducing social security. As evident, symposium is grounded in interdisciplinary approach and in acknowledgment of inherent interconnectedness of law and social work, while it effectively strengthened international connections and established conditions and opportunities for knowledge transfer within international scientific community.
