The goal of the Urban Education Live (UEL) is to spark collaboration between universities and urban communities. We achieve this goal by developing local skills and knowledge that benefit communities and the learning process of students. The work in urban communities is supported by a new kind of »social mapping«, discovering what people find either valuable or problematic in their own everyday surroundings.

COBISS.SI-ID: 35467613The proposed research has substantive relevance for urban studies as it approaches the processes of urban regeneration from a new conceptualisation and understanding of urban phenomena which bases on a cross-cultural East-Asian - European perspective. Such approaches are still rare in a contemporary urban research, but are becoming increasingly important due to the processes of economic and cultural globalization and due to the intensification of world migratory trends. The results help in development of urban policies that prevent potential risks and possible conflicts between citizens and support public bodies involved in urban management on the local level. As such, the research presents both applied and theoretical research results and brings important knowledge, research data for the field of EU- East-Asian urban studies, which are in EU relatively unknown.

D.01 Chairing over/coordinating (international and national) projects
COBISS.SI-ID: 35487069The report describes the process of aquiring new data and elaboration of new methodologies for the research group of Centre for Spatial Sociology. The new sets of methods and aquired experiences would allow the research group to examine spatial transformations in selected locations in order to help stakeholders to achieve greater autonomy and overcome the spatial, temporal, sectoral, and hierarchical divisions of modern societies. Based on the experiences acquired through a series of international scientific research projects, the members of CPS combine their theoretical knowledge with the practical identification of good practices in the complex interplay of post-modern spatial and environmental processes. The long-term research, carried out by the CPS's collaborators, conclusively indicates that the preparation, management, and legitimation of interventions into space and the environment necessarily require the involvement of professionals proficient in analyzing and researching the "social constructions" of space.
