COBISS.SI-ID: 15659601In the past years, municipalities in Slovenia have been obliged to adopt sustainable urban strategies (SUS), since the adopted SUS is one of the condition for acquiring European cohesion funds. Based on defined visions, SUS presents the main goals of the desired development. The achievement of these goals depends on the success and on the ability to implement projects in practice. In doing so municipalities are faced with numerous challenges, from lack of information, knowledge, to lack of financial resources. The solution is a combination of knowledge and experience of public and private partners, and a combination of financial resources that provide adequate financial structure for planning and implementing sustainable urban projects.

COBISS.SI-ID: 15764305Sustainable development must be the guiding principle for urban policies and governance or the basic development principle, which applies both to Sustainable Urban Strategies (TUS) and to other strategic documents: the Commission's Report (The Commission on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress – CMEPSP) was exposed to the idea that the issue of "sustainability" refers to the quality of life. This document identifies sustainable development as a process that focuses not only on economic development, but also includes balanced ecological and socio-social development.
