The final report of the project "Contemporary strategies of Slovenian emigrants for the preservation of ethnic identity" (115 p.) is the central result of the project authored by four members of the project group. This carefully structured study comprises all the themes and aspects of the project according to its proposed plan. The theme of this report involves the role of young Slovenian emigrants or descendants of Slovenian emigrants of various generations in the formation of different relationships to the Slovenian ethnic identity in the emigration context, their connections with diasporic communities, their ties with their homeland or the homeland of their ancestors, the preservation or the changing of those ties, and questions related to their possible return/migration to Slovenia. The report that also includes 8 pages of recommendations for the beneficiary and various Slovenian ministries and government bodies is fully accessible on the project's website.

B.01 Organiser of a scientific meeting
COBISS.SI-ID: 40516653The author explored the strategies for the preservation of ethnic identity used by the Slovenians in Bosnia and Herzegovina compared to those used by the Bosniaks in Slovenia: their organizational patterns, their cultural production and the use of their mother tongues. She pointed out some successful methods used by the Bosniaks in Slovenia for the inclusion of children and youth in their cultural and society life, methods that could also be used by Slovenian emigrants. She examined how the minority status of the Slovenians in B&H has been reflected in their cultural and society life and what difficulties have been reported concerning their questionable status – especially in the field of culture – by the Bosniaks in Slovenia. The paper is based on extensive fieldwork carried out under the author’s supervision: a survey on the position of immigrants and members of the so-called “new minorities” in Slovenia; a survey carried out among Slovenian cultural associations in B&H; and interviews with members of both minorities in Slovenia and B&H respectively.
