COBISS.SI-ID: 23198728Based on a conceptual historiographic and semantic analysis of the fundamental terminology of the ritual of vengeance, this paper presents an attempt to provide researchers with a linguistic, conceptual, and methodological framework for the study of vengeance as the customary system of confl ict resolution in premodern Europe. For this purpose the key terminology, which also has abundant synonyms, has been collected in the accompanying septalingual glossary. While predicated on, foremost, European Medieval sources and studies thereof, the dissemination and interrelation of the universal human custom make the paper applicable for other areas and periods, particularly perhaps for the regions of the Slovenian Northeast.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1508997The article is divided in three parts. The first introduces the topic of how ten months, since the beginning of World War I (July 1914) until the signing of the Memorandum (better known as the Pact) of London in April 1915 (and the direct consequences caused by the entry of Italy into war), were treated by historiography on the occasion of the centenary of the fi rst global confl ict. In the second part, the author gives a general overview of how the topic was presented in various historiographies, underlining some limits and also giving some suggestions for the future. In the last part, the terminological question of denomination regarding the document from April 26, 1915, which has decisively upset the region of Venezia Giulia, is highlighted.
