The professional article was published in the most read legal review targeting legal professionals in Slovenia. It offers an analysis of proposed legislative changes to criminal law (the elimination of life imprisonment and the introduciton of the purpose of punishment), which could bring important changes into the slovenian crime policy. This is one of several engagements the researcher has had with professionals (prosecutors, policemen) with regard to the topics of the research project.

F.18 Transfer of new know-how to direct users (seminars, fora, conferences)
COBISS.SI-ID: 1909070The presentation was coauthored with two dutch academics in order to comprehanasively compare the slovenian and dutch system of punishment. The sistems are especially suitable for comparison due to a number of similar traits in both societies. The comparison is more interesting, however, because even though the imprisonment rate for both countries is similar, it is a product of two contrasting pathways: the slovenian increasing punitivity and a very dramatic turn against less harsh sentencing in the Netherlands in the past years.
B.03 Paper at an international scientific conference
COBISS.SI-ID: 1981518The author presented the paper at the conference Building a new prison: the proposals and concerns, organised on 2 June 2016 by the Institute of Criminology (the author as head). The conference was aimed at a professional public, especially staff of the prison system, decision makers at the prison administration and the Ministry of Justice. We were extremely critical of the idea of combining male and female prison on a new joint location, and through arguments managed to convince the prison administration and the Ministry of Justice, which are now modifying the plans taking into account the opinion of the academics. The new plans include building a new prison for male prisoners and renovating the existing female prison on its current location.
