The present invention relates to a thermal device comprising at least one heat exchanger and at least one heat source and/or heat sink. The thermal device in the invention is designed as a combination of the first thermal device based on a vapor-compression principle contained the first heat transfer medium, and the second thermal device based on elastocaloric principle contained the second heat transfer medium. At least one deformable heat exchanger made of elastocaloric material is common to both thermal devices.
F.33 Slovenian patent
COBISS.SI-ID: 15315739The name of the week is Jaka Tušek, researcher in the Laboratory for refrigeration and district energy and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where they developed the first efficient conceptual prototype of regenerative elastocaloric heat pump in the world, which could lead to a revolution in refrigeration systems. The results were published in reputable journal Nature Energy.

COBISS.SI-ID: 14935323Postdoctoral researcher and teaching assistant at the Laboratory for refrigeration and district energy at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Ljubljana. He works on the development of alternative cooling technologies based on the caloric effects in ferrroic materials. In 2012, he finished his PhD in the field of magnetocaloric cooling. Later he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Technical University of Denmark. With a team they built and experimentally evaluated the world's first conceptual prototype of a regenerative elastocaloric device. The results were published in the prestigious journal Nature Energy. He is the author of numerous scientific articles in international journals and three patent applications in the field of alternative cooling technologies. On our stage he will be talking about global problems and challenges to the exponential growth of cooling demands and about the ideas for solutions to these challenges.
