Abstract
The knowledge of physico-chemical and transport properties of the compounds as well as the connections and relationships among them enables the design of new drugs with optimal absorption behaviour. The properties of the drugs and epithelial barrier of the mucosa are therefore very important. Antivirus compounds of the analog series with designed hydro-lipophilic properties are used to study the kinetic of active and passive absorption process. The effects on transport kinetics and mechanism of different substances, which interact with mucus or mucosal epithelial membrane, are investigated too. The process of biomucoadhesion, which enables prolonged and better contact of a drug with the site of absorption (mucosa) and so improves the absorption and consequently the bioavailability, is also studied.
