Abstract
The use of more adaptable alternative field crops in rotation and changes of cultivation systems are the only real possibilities for adaptation of field crop production without irrigation on climate changes, especially if we compare it with monocultures or two crops rotation and used conventional cultivation systems by them. Production system, appropriate crop rotation, care for organic matter in the soil and associated water regime, soil tillage, soil tillage, crop management, appropriate soewing and harvest dates represents the key factors which inflence adapatability of the crops to climate changes. In this case perrenial catch crops exist the limit of species, which are apropriate for the grow like a solo or a mixture of catch crops. At Faculty of agriculture and life sciences provided a lot of research in alternative crops (like a oil pumpkins, buckwheat, proso millet, hemp, falshe flax, sweet potatoe, soybean, sweet maize and popcorn) and the catch crops like crimson clover, subterranean clover,  italian rygrass, rape and other cover crps. With the objectives of improving the choice of alternative crops and winter forage catch crops for adapting the field crop rotation to climate changes, identifying possibilities of improving field crop rotation with mixed crops, and identifying possibility of introducing alternative crops for forage and food production into field crop rotation, the possibility of introducing rye and mixed rye crops with legumes in form of winter catch crop in field forage production will be studied. For those the aim of the project is follows: The problem of dry periods will be solved on the bases of previous experimental trials and available literature and additional experiments where exist the lack of knowledge and the lack of the practice (the points 1 to 5), and give to the producers the new proposals for the crop rotation, (point 6 ). As a base for that experiments are the follows topics: 1. Research of crop rotation whic includes also alternative crops in the three production systems (conventional, integrated and organic) 2. The new option of crop mixtures - oil pumkins and undersown and analyses of oil quality -  study the processing of pumkin oil for decreasing polycyclic aromatic carbohydrates (PAHs) 3. Analyses of rye in crop mixtures like forage crops and other perrenial catch crops into crop rotation 4. Introduction of hemp (like a main and stubble crop) into the crop rotation and answer on the question of real exploatation hemp in Slovenia 5. Flax cultivars as a source of omega3 fats for feed and food chain 6. Arrangement of crop rotation based on literature, previous results and from trials of proposed project On the basis of this proposal and acceptable methodology of experiments, analyses of the results we want to answer on the key questions no answered multidimensional questions in the scope of proposed topics. It will be welcome additional applicative knowledge for professionals, the topics about crop rotation will be directly transferable into practice. Conclusions of the project will be published in research and professional papers, directly to the advisers for agronomy and the producers like events. The group will be available also for education after the finish project.
Significance for science
The special omportance of the project is inclussion of crop rotation depending on production systems.On those base many interdisciplinarry studies were possible, like the effects of production systems on quantita and quality of yields. As an additional treatment we were seperated the effects of used crop rotations. As a result we can conclude that organic production of some alternative crops and vegetables is a comparable with integrated and conventional regarding yields, and organic cultivation was even better in case of environmental imapcts.
Significance for the country
The project can result in positive effects on more susatinable field crops and vegetable production. In consequence is highly important possible increasing og functional biodiversity on the fields based on alternative (nish products) and intercrops, whic portion need to be higher than at present. While alternative crops represents possibility for niche products, the results of their quality is very important (like the auality of oil from pumpkin seeds). As addition to knowledge of crop rotation in different production systems, introduction of new cultivation technologies is quite imporant, like roller crimper constructed by DOlenc s.p. in co-operation with our team (further research). As an important fact of this study is knowledge transfer to advisers and to ministra workers, who produced KOPOP to 2020.
