Significance for science
In the period of this research project, the project team has published altogether 44 SCI papers, 27 of which in the journals from the 1st quarter of the SCI research fields. Their papers received 72 clear citations in this period, which, besides the scientific results given in section 6, justifies the quality and international recognition of the scientific research.
Significance for the country
The research project has improved the research and development cooperation between the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana and co-financer Sensum, Computer Vision Systems – a member of Technology Park Ljubljana. In the last decade, the cooperation between these two parties was very fruitful and resulted in numerous computer vision systems, especially for quality inspection of pharmaceutical products in the pharmaceutical companies worldwide. The project has thus strengthen the cooperation between the academia and Slovenian industry and contributed to the efficient transfer of knowledge and technology from academia to the industry and entrepreneurship, which resulted in the development of new high-tech products with high value added. Namely, the development of the proposed methods will enable construction of modern high-tech control systems and instruments for simultaneous monitoring, understanding and optimization of production processes in many industrial branches, especially in pharmaceutical and food industry. This will result in higher quality and safety of products, higher productivity and environment-friendly production.
