Significance for science
The importance of the research results for the science development is exceptional. Members of the project team published 29 SSCI/SCI papers during the project (2009-2012). 13 papers were published in the category A1. Papers published in the period 2009-2012 have already received 635 normalized citations (number on 21st February 2013), which is in the field of social sciences and the short time since the end of the project an outstanding achievement. University of Ljubljana is ranked as third in the field of business process management in the world by the number of publications in the SSCI/SCI journals (search term topic "business process" period 2008-2013). Project members contributed to 18 publications out of 30. Project members presented their research results at research seminars and invited lectures at many prestigious universities such as: Humboldt Universität zu Berlin; University of Zagreb; University of Novi Sad; The Institut Ugo Bordoni, University of Rome; Hasso Plattner Institut, Universidade Federal do Espirito Santo; Almaty Technological University and Queensland University of Technology. Research results (theoretical basis for the MPP, analysis of different aspects of the MPP organizational performance...) are significantly spreading the knowledge in this area and opening further research questions as is also evident from the numerous citations.
Significance for the country
The importance of research results for development of Slovenia is exceptional. In fact, it has been shown that appropriate business process management practices lead to higher performance in both firms and public sector. Members of the project team were in charge of many applicable projects for Slovenian firms, such as: Modeling of business processes for telecommunications company Mobitel; Model of software solution for informatization of real estate databases of the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia; Process renovation at Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia; Implementation of document management system in Public holding Ljubljana and 4 public companies; Implementation of process administration system at the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia; Global data model of project eEnvironment; Help with modeling, analysis, and renovation of business processes in Deželna banka Slovenije; Analysis, reorganization, and optimization of business processes at Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs; Analysis of key, managerial, and supporting business processes with improvement proposals at Post of Slovenia; Identification of current state with future directions of information support in bank Nova KBM. Besides above listed references it is important to note the active Process management conference that has been running for three consecutive years (namely in October 2009, 2010, and 2011) during the research project. The emphasized conference hosts nearly 200 international participants from industry, public sector, and academic community.
