Abstract
The research into the problems of art collecting in Carniola in the early Modern Era will focus, employing new methodological approaches, on two extraordinary personalities: J. V. Valvasor and O. F. Buchheim. Valvasor's collection in a trilingual critical edition and a facsimile will gain a place of excellence in European and world science, while Buchheim's, which is of a similar Eurpean significance, will first have to be identified within European collections.
