Abstract
Buildings are huge final energy consumption and has because of that high influence on the environment. The new European directive on energy efficiency in buildings encourage energy efficient construction and the use of new technologies for heating, ventilation and cooling of the buildings. With modern air-conditioning devices it is possible to reduce the energy use for heating and ventilation as well as energy for cooling with some natural ways of cooling which is for example evaporative cooling. The important share of this have regenerators and requperators where the processes of heat and mass transfer take place. The research in the frame of this project will be focused into the development of modern high-efficient heat exchangers for the purpose of returning the waste heat on the primary air and for direct evaporative cooling of the fresh air. The known shapes of heat exchangers will be modified to receive the most efficient heat transfer or the highest efficiency. In the case of evaporative cooling we will try to get the optimal moistening of the heat transfer area. The result of this will be high efficient cooling and the suitable temperatures of the inlet air as a basis for reducing energy for cooling of the buildings. The results will be also applied to the enhancement of transfer characteristics of evaporative condensers.
