Abstract
''''The Princes of Cilli'''' project aims at furthering the historical, archaeological and conservational research at the sites of Stari grad and Knežji dvorec castles in Celje. These sites, which were once residences of the mighty feudal dinasty of the Counts and later Princes of Cilli, offer invaluable data on the history of the family itself and the town of Celje. As the Cilli family represents one of the key factors of the Slovenian late Middle Ages, the results of the project should contribute importantly to the overall understanding of the political, economic and cultural history of today Slovenia and the neighbouring regions.
