Abstract
In the project links among hydrological, hydraulic, morphological, chemical, physical and biological parameters which form aquatic habitats of periphytic algae will be studied. The researches will be hold in the river Soča, in the river Sava Dolinka and in the river Drava, at the sections, where the hydrological regime is changed due to water abstractions for hydroelectric power plants. It will be assessed how the changes in quality and quantity of aquatic habitats downstream of reservoirs affect on the structure and function of periphytic algae community: species composition, biomass nad species dominance. The analysis of habitats and sampling of periphytic algae will be carried out in different seasons and hydrological regimes. The connections among parameters which form the habitats of periphytic algae will be analysed with selected statistical methods. In the project the guidelines, the role and significance for conservation of aquatic habitats of periphytic algae in the context of preservation of natural balance at the outflow of reservoirs will be given. The limit values of periphytic algae biomass, which causes the negative changes in the running water will be determined. The guidelines for conservation of aquatic habitats in the determination of ecologically acceptable flow in the connection with pollution and eutrophisation will be given. The guidelines for conservation of aquatic habitats and the dynamic at the emptying of reservoirs will be prescribed. The flow dynamics at the outflows of reservoirs which contain the aquatic habitats will be determined.
