Abstract
The aim of this proposed project is to study various HPV genotypes in women who had been treated for cervical carcinoma, and to determine the time of persistence of high risk HPV genotypes, needed for the disease to develop. Taking into consideration the ditstribution of HPV genotypes obtained in Slovenia among women with recurrent pap II smear, which differs among countries, an appropriate screening algorithm will be made, which will not only include the standard cytological screening test, but also HPV testing. HPV testing prior to and after surgery of precancerous cervical lesions will provide the efficiency of surgical treatment considering the diseappearance of HPV infections.
