Abstract
The research project target will be the relatively new area of the phenomenon of the emotional intelligence (EI), which was first used by Salovey and Mayer in 1991. During the ten years of investigation of this phenomena different studies showed very different structure of the emotional intelligence. Therefore this directed basic research project's aim will be critical approach to the construct of emotional intelligence and empirical validation of its validity. We will base our research on existing models of emotional intelligence. By adapting existing (foreign) instrumentary we will try to establish our own hypotetical model based on structure, hierarchy and dynamics of the EI. We will also illuminate the cognitive and social aspect of this concept. Based on the research findings we will hypothetically decide to reshape the existing concept of the emotional intelligence into more adequate concept (in regards to the structural components' findings of the research ).The research will be conducted on accidental chance sample of persons of different ages. We will operate with, dependant and controlling variables. The results will be processed with extensive multivariate analysis. Gained data will be interpreted in comparison with the results of the foreign studies in order to establish the base for the model of the concept of the emotional intelligence. Results of the study will bring new scientific knowledge about the structure and the meaning of the social intelligence, and will especially influence further aplicative research of the investigated concept (e.g. the impact of the EI on the study/working achievements of the individual; the social integrational role of the EI; the possibility of enhancing personal effectiveness with different priograms aimed at developing emotional skills etc.)
