Abstract
The study will include newborns with risk facturs according to criteria of Mercuri et al. (12). During the first week of life the following investigations will be added to the standard ones: clinical neurological examination, video-assessment of general movements (GMs) and ultrasound brain scan. A follow-up will include video assessment GMs according to protocol of Prechtl et al. (6). Children with abnormal patterns of GMs will be included in neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT)- Bobath approach in randomised way: first group will be treater once and the second one twice a week. A small group of children will be also recorded just before and after therapy to evaluate short-term effect. Not treat children will be followed up as control group. To evaluate effectiveness of therapy followed methods/tests will be done: neurological and development examination, Denver Screener Test II, Bayley Developmental Screener Test, Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM), Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI), Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS). Clinical Adaptive Test and Clinical Linguistic Auditory Milestone Scal will be included as psychological (cognitive) evaluation.
