Abstract
Research work in the research group ""Structural Engineering"" covers the topics related to structural engineering and geotechnics. It comprises of experimental and numerical analysis related to buildings, civil engineering structures and geotechnical problems and also symbolic approach in computational mechanics. In the next few years the main research topics will be the following: - determination of constitutive relations for mass concrete, high-strength concrete, modified concrete at room and at elevated temperatures, taking into account also rheological behaviour of these materials - numerical modelling of composite and lamellar structures made of concrete, steel or timber - stability of structures made of high strength steel, with special attention to cross-section compactness criteria - seismic safety of steel buildings in Slovenia. The most important part of this research will be experimental and numerical analysis of moment resistant connections. - development of suitable numerical methods for mechanical analysis of gravel columns to be used for the improvement of soft soil under embankments. - establishment of correlation between presiometric and CPT measurements on site and laboratory tests of mechanical properties of soil - structural optimisation taking into account minimal cost of fabrication. Development of very fast and reliable optimisation solver.
