Abstract
Short description of the project: The Jean Monnet Chair “Leadership for European Local Development (LELD2040)” is testing an innovative educational approach and materials as a mechanism to enhance the implementation of the European Union Long-Term Vision for Rural Areas 2040 and improves its global impact. In this way, interdisciplinary EU studies addressing the phenomenon of the EU implementation gap are also promoted to provide innovative educational tools (open learning, continuous co-creation of educational materials, virtual classrooms) that could be used in other settings across Europe, to foster dialogue between academia and society, including national and local policy makers, and to contribute to the awareness of the EU’s long-term regional policy visions outside the EU Member States. Project main aim LELD2040 focuses on the EU Commission’s priorities for 2019-24, in particular priority six, a new push for European democracy, and focuses on developing a long-term vision that addresses urgent challenges and identifies new opportunities for communities across Europe, as outlined in the New Strategic Agenda 2019-24. Results/Activities With its numerous activities (such as lectures, roundtable discussions, Summer Leadership Academy, thematic session at the international conferences, field trips, and scientific publications), LELD2040 addresses various target groups, i.e., academia, students, experts, political decision-makers and civil society.
