Abstract
Social analysis of disability will be focused on the socially constructed models of physical impairments and mental disability within cross-cultural perspective. The research project will consist of a theoretical analysis of the most important models, the analysis of archive material from the turn of the century in Slovenia and of the qualitative analysis of life stories of individuals. One of the most important elements of the construction of otherness are media, therefore a media analysis of disability representation will be made. Qualitative analysis of in-depth interviews with persons with different disabilities in Slovenia will analyse the collective and individual memory throughout the structure of narration and will focus on the understanding of the body, everyday discriminations and social disadvantages.
