Abstract
In this investigation a detailed study of the oxidation behaviour of some modern and new materials will be performed in order to explain physical and chemical phenomena of the process and to determine the possibility of using this process for production of industrial attractive materials. In the proposed project the oxidation behaviour of the rapidly solidified ternary Cu base alloys from the systems Cu-Al-X and Cu-Si-X (X=Hf, Sr, Ti, Ba, Nb), sintered materials Cu-C and Cu-NbC and intermetallic compounds NB3Al and Ti5Si3 will be investigated. The main scope is to study the influence of the microstructure on the mechanism and kinetics of the external and internal oxidation process at different conditions.
