Abstract
The literature data and our experiences suggest that relatively high percentage of tumours are developed in hypertensive patients treated by calcium channel blockers. Our hypothesis is that the reason for tumours development is the primary damage of small vessels caused by the basic disease. This hypothesis will be studied on animal model consisted of spontaneously hypertensive rats. The mutations of tumour suppressor gen p53, the changes in the apoptosis as well as in the walls of small vessels will be studied. The formation of spontaneously malignant tumours in the experimental and control groups of animals will be followed up.
