Abstract
Within the theoretical model we shall explain the influence of microscopic interactions in polar smectic liquid crystals on the macroscopic structures of different phases. The physical properties of different phases, as proposed within the model, will be compared with the experimental data. Elektrostatic olarization of separate smectic layers will be incorporeted into the theoretical model explicitely, which will enable us to study both chiral and recently discovered achiral smectic liquid crystals.
