Abstract
Respiratory infections are very frequent in people of any age group. They are caused by different bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. We are paying attention to conveniant and less conveniant microbes - some of them having been emerged recently. We are introducing the proper diagnostic procedures and we are looking for the mode of spreading in hospitals and also in healthy population. Hospital infections are aslo included in the study. The bacteria involved in these infections are typed and their possible resistance to antibiotics is being studied. Viruses present an important part of the study, adenoviruses being the most important. The most interesting group of patients are asthmatic children. In their clinical material we are tracing perisitent presence of different viruses during the exacerbation of asthma and in ''''healthy'''' state. Pneumocystis carinii belongs to less known agent which is involved in respiratory tract diseases. It is classified into fungi. We try to find the most proper diagnostic procedure.
